Let us get to know each other. My family has been around in Africa for many many years having arrived on the shores of Africa in 1788 and my grandfather being stationed in Swakopmund as commander of the Allied troops during the World War. I personally decided to make Namibia my home in 1987 and have been quite actively involved as a broadcaster but also in the arts. In 1999 I decided to buy the Bush Pillow Guest House in Otjiwarongo and relocated to this town with the family from Windhoek. I am quite involved in the Tourism Industry in Namibia, having chaired the Bed and Breakfast Association of Namibia, served as a board member on the Federation of Namibian Tourism Associations and still seek to improve tourism in Namibia as much as possible.
Reinet’s family were huegenots from France and she grew up in the Eastern Cape in South Africa. We met in Johannesburg and I could not resist her charm. So we got married in 1978 and she has been a remarkable partner, friend and wife, adopting to the changes in our lives and always taking the responsibility of ensuring a stable, warm and welcoming environment for the family.
So when we moved to Bush Pillow she again made sure that the Guesthouse would be warm and inviting to our guests and we strive to ensure that our guests are taken care of in the best possible ways, providing free parking, free high quality wi-fi, great breakfasts and the best information regarding the north central parts of Namibia as well as Zambia and Botswana.
Our many happy guests are a delight to us and we have become friends with so many that we truly feel that we have a rewarding life.
Bridged has been with us almost from start-up. She cares as much about Bush Pillow as we do and we are extremely happy that she makes sure that a high standard is maintained throughout. Bridged and her assistants are the heart of Bush Pillow making sure your accommodation is always spotlessly clean, that there are fresh linnen and towels, and that everything would be as comfy as possible for you our most valued guests.
Coreia is our gardener and he makes sure that our surroundings are attractive and inviting.
Reinet is also our chef and together with Bridged they make sure that you are well taken care of for breakfast or dinner if you have chosen to reserve dinner with us.
Me – I take care of the mundane jobs like the maintenance and I also keep our art collection up to date.
So visit us with an expectation of viewing some really good art, enjoy the relaxing garden and pool and most of all enjoy our really great breakfasts.
